I.Documents and materials needed for the foreign members of the service staff of the consular posts in Shanghai for the employment registrationfor the first time:
1.The note of the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office that approves the consular post or the members of the consular post employing the foreign member of the service staff.
2.The note issued by the consular post to the Shanghai Foreign Agency Service Department (hereinafter referred to as the Service Department)on this matter.
3.The note issued by the consular post to the Bureau of Exit-Entry Administration Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau on this matter.
4.A duplicate of the Employment Contract signed between the consular post or the members of the consular post and the employee.
5.The employee’s valid passport with a period of validity of at least six months and visa.
6.Registration Form of the Foreign Members of the Service Staff of Diplomatic Missions and Consular Posts in Shanghai

7.The original of the Registration Form of Temporary Residence in Shanghai.
8.Certificate of Verification for Physical Examination Record for Foreigner or Overseas Chinese (not required for applicantsunder 18 or above 70 years old).
9.Two two-inch, half-length, bareheaded and full-faced color photos taken within six months.
10.The note issued by the consular posts that verifies the identity of the family members accompanying, if applicable.

II.Documents and materialsneeded for renewing employment permit of the foreign member of the service staff:

1.The Chinese Work Visa should be obtained abroad in advance. If you are already employed and working in Shanghai, please leave China first and then obtain Chinese Work Visa (Visa Category Z) at the Chinese embassies or consular posts abroad before your re-entry into China.
2.Please notify the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office within 10 working days of your entry into Shanghai. After receiving the employment permit of the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, you should go to the Service Department to go through the formalities of employment registration with all the documents and materials required. Our staff will accompany you to the Bureau of Exit-Entry Administration of Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau to go through the formalities of extension of the Work Visa and the Residence Permit on your behalf.
3.The Residence Permit should be obtained within 30 days from the date of entry into China.
4.The Residence Permit is valid for one year. For renewal, please go to the Service Department with the required documents one month prior to the expiration date.
5.In case of any residence change, please contact the local police station within 24 hours for change of registration.
6.If your spouse or any family members are with you, the Service Department can help with their Visa/Residence Permit application matters.
Please notify the Service Department when your term of office expires or the employment contract is dissolved for the Service Department to handle relevant issues.
